Virtual Racing thanks to Covid 19 Lockdown

Published by pgriffin on

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the forced lockdown has meant that all motorsport has been canceled in the UK and in many parts of the world.  The CNC heads championship which we race in has been no exception. To get our fix of motorsport action the championship competitors have organized an online virtual racing championship. The racing takes place using the Playstion 4 game Project Cars 2 which is very realistic for a commercial game with many of the UK and world’s greatest tracks.

The season got underway on Easter Monday, April 13th at a wet Oulton Park for round 1 of the virtual CNC heads Championship.  The Gradient Team racing under the drivers handle Pggtips, yes he does like a good brew! The virtual car that was chosen was the road class D car a KTM Xbow. This may be a bit different to the Fiesta that we normally race as we are unlikely to have one for real, this seemed like a good chance to get up the sharp end of the grid.

Round 1

Round 1 was difficult in the wet and a collisions and subsequent pit stops for repairs made for a poor result. Highlight of the race can be seen on here

Round 2

Round 2 was a bit better, qualified on Pole but with a fast starting caterham we dropped back down the order, finally finishing 4th.
